Silk & Thread Studio is a private, home based bridal and special occasion alteration atelier in Warrenton, Virginia. With over 15 years of experience, I offer personalized, couture level alterations in an intimate, appointment only setting.
Every fitting is designed to feel unhurried and thoughtful, because tailoring is not just about measurements. It is about how you move, how you feel, and how the garment supports you on a day that matters.
From Germany to Virginia, With a Love for Craft
I grew up in a little town in Germany called Reiskirchen, and I have always loved creating. Taking raw materials and turning them into something beautiful and functional felt natural to me from the start.
My love for sewing came from my grandmother, an exceptional and very particular tailor. I still remember her saying: the most beautiful dress is worthless unless the fit is just as perfect. That mindset shaped the way I work today.
After earning my degree as a registered nurse in Germany, and later becoming a stay at home mom, I decided to follow my grandmother’s footsteps into professional alterations. I learned fitting techniques, refined my sewing skills, and built a standard for clean, impeccable results.
